It’s Roller Disco Time All Over Again

Published on

Roller skating may seem kind of retro, but it isn’t a thing of the past. In fact, roller skating rinks seem to thrive, because what beats an old school roller skating fun, right? Grown ups remember their good old high school days when they partied in the rinks with their friends and kids are making memories while learning how to skate indoor for the first time. Roller skating rinks are many people’s favorite place to be and we’re not surprised by it! Anything that has wheels and screams adventure is fun for optimists from 7 to 77 years of age.

When the world witnessed the collision of skates and parquet floor for the first time ever, everyone got pretty excited. Now people could skate come rain or come shine and that was a big plus because back then people from all ages actually loved physical activities. With the rise of the roller skating rinks, people had a new place to hang out, date, dance and simply have fun.

The rinks from that era were actually multi-purpose facilities that opened their doors for meetings and all kinds of community gatherings and events so they became the favorite place to be for anyone with a top hat and a bustled skirt. But the thing everyone went crazy for were the indoor quad skates. However, these fun, four-wheeled and usually colorful boots didn’t become an undeniable cool hit until the disco era. Music videos and movie directors loved shooting scenes with indoor quad skates that people still seem to adore and that’s how the roller disco was born.

The coolest thing about roller rinks is they haven’t gotten out of fashion and we’re pretty excited about that! Since retro and vintage things are a huge hit these days, why wouldn’t we want to feel the 80’s disco enthusiasm with a pair of modern indoor quad skates and a big glass of milkshake with a cherry on top. This is like so disco-y, right? Yeah, we like know 80s slang, okay?

And if you want to follow the roller disco tradition, you can put on some brightly colored aerobics style clothes and a shiny pink lipstick and let the Bee Gees and Abba records guide you on the parquet floor. Season that with a big shiny disco ball and a pair of the craziest socks you own and you’ll be the center of everyone’s attention. People love going back in time, especially those who miss their old careless and restless high school days, so anything that can trigger these positive emotions is more than welcomed.
