French Inspired Furniture: The Perfect Blend of Luxury and Comfort

So many styles, so many choices to make… If you’ve had this thought whenever trying to undertake a home makeover project, welcome to the club. I’ve found myself in this situation of doubt more times than I’d like to admit because I was ashamed thinking I must be the only person in the world so indecisive that I can’t even define what my own taste is. There were parts of me steering towards the luxurious, then there were other parts going for the ultra ordinary. Having this internal struggle has made me avoid changing my interior style as much as I’d wanted until the moment a magazine enlightened me.

As I was turning the pages, there it was, the charming and unrivalled French inspired furniture. After reading so many magazines and seeing so many styles, why is it this particular furniture that made all the difference, you ask? Well, for starters it’s the exact combination of luxurious and ordinary elements. What one lacks, the other fulfils, and that’s where the perfect balance lies. The great thing about it is it’s not a recent trend, in fact it dates all the way back to the 17th and 18th century in French provincial homes and back then it wasn’t even a trend, it was a way of life.

That’s what I’ve grown to love about French inspired furniture, it allows you to be close to rustic natural materials while still being surrounded by elegance and, if you thought that’s all there is to it, you’re wrong. Along with being beautiful, it’s also very easy to blend it in with the rest of your interior if you’re not exactly up for experimenting with a complete makeover just yet. Since it radiates softness, thanks to the colours, you can expect to create a comfortable and warm inviting atmosphere.

This is what my home atmosphere is like now, and as soon as I incorporated these changes with my interior, I became inspired to be bolder with my style choices. As the base colour is white, you can’t go wrong by combining it with plenty of other bright elements such as upholstery be it on sofas and chairs, or the play of colours with cushions, rugs and curtains. Though I started with the living room, I continued with the bedroom, of course, because this kind of beauty goes perfect with dreamland, so you can bet once you invite this style into your home, every room will get a makeover eventually.
