For Those Who Cannot Wait to Style A Bedroom Up-to-Date

Published on

The bedroom is my temple, the place where I go to worship my spirit. It is a sanctuary, and it should be treated like one. However, it bugs me that some people don’t put much effort when decorating their bedrooms and tend to throw around their things with no particular order, thinking that since this room is not accessible to others, it doesn’t necessarily need to look that good. They have no idea how a nicely put together bedroom can affect a person’s overall quality of life and mood. For the sake of not making that mistake, here’s a list of what makes a charming and functional bedroom. You can thank me later.

The Perfect Bed

With the right bed you’ll feel one step shy of royalty. There are many elements that come into play when choosing a bed – the mattress, the sheets, the bed frame – they all have to fit perfectly well together. Don’t be cheap when it comes to choosing the mattress, a quality mattress means a great investment for your long-term health. Next in importance is the pillow. Choose a soft but supportive one and your neck will thank you.

Furthermore, the most alluring part of the bed is the bedding. Pick one made of cotton. Egyptian is my personal favourite – it makes you feel like you are lying on 7th Heaven. But besides comfort, looks are also important. The easiest way to add character to a bed is with a headboard, and frankly, any bed that does not have one reminds me of a prison bunk. You can choose a fancy design and have it upholstered. Furthermore, if you like reading or checking your social media accounts before you fall asleep, a soft padded headboard will offer a great support. My ultimate tip is to put some time and consideration into creating a cosy and contemporary bed for your bedroom. After all, if your bedroom is your temple then the bed is the altar – the most holy spot.

The Right Colour

Be careful when choosing the colour of your bedroom walls. The wrong colour could seriously ruin your quality of sleep. For instance, yellow evokes energy, happiness and draws attention. Therefore, if this is your favourite colour, make sure to put it as further away as possible from your bedroom. If you like looking at soft blue, you’re in luck since this colour is the undeniable champion when it comes to bedroom wall painting – it relaxes the eyes and makes you feel safe. Some people even paint their bedrooms black, for it imitates a clear dark sky at night and makes them fall asleep easier. It is you who knows what suits you best, but if you have doubts, take a look at this colour chart to help you decide.

Bedroom Furniture

Sometimes the details make the biggest impact in a room. However, you don’t want to put too much furniture in your bedroom as it will overcrowd it and make you feel like suffocating when you should be relaxing. Keep it minimalistic – a small, charming lamp goes a long way. But don’t forget to also embrace natural light – the best alarm for waking up in the morning. Put your blinds up and choose thin and airy drapes for a perfect light control. Furthermore, the staple of every bedroom (right after a comfortable contemporary bed, of course) is the bedside table where you can put your most personal things within your arm’s reach. Choose one with an interesting design so you make your mornings better when reaching for the alarm clock.
