Choosing the Right Camera Store: All or Nothing at All
With social media and photo sharing platforms becoming that much present in our every day lives, a lot of people, including myself, have started partaking in photography at a beginner’s level. For me, it all started with posting a few posts of food on Instagram, and shortly after it became a huge trend, I became obsessed with taking photos of just about everything.
There was not much I could do with my phone camera though, so I wanted to have more options. True, the Instagram effects are cool in some cases, but that’s not really the point of photography. Finally, I decided it was time to buy my very first DLSR camera. However, I had no idea what to look for and how much I wanted to spend on it, as DSLRs can be quite pricey. So I visited my local leading camera store and asked around for suggestions.
To my surprise, there are quite a few cameras that have beginners as their “target audience” – their prices being remotely cheaper than the cameras meant for the professionals. Making the right choice was hard, but making the wrong one was impossible, meaning – they could all suit my needs as a newbie photographer, and I couldn’t really go wrong with any choice there was.
All the cameras sold in a leading camera store, reputable for the quality of the products it sells, will have a wide variety of both cameras and equipment available for you at competitive prices. Moreover, a reputable store will have employees that won’t try to make you buy things that you probably won’t even need as a beginner, which I think is very important.
In addition to a camera, you will need to buy lenses. To be honest, the lenses might be even more important than the camera itself as they can completely change a photograph. So one thing you can do is buy an older camera body that can fit a wider range of lenses and go with it. All you have to make sure is that the pixels of the camera are in the double digit range, and that it has a high ISO sensitivity (the amount of light it can absorb).
When it comes to lenses though, it’s really all up to personal preference. There’s not a single lens that can do it all, so depending on what you need from the photos, choose the adequate lens. Lenses can be quite expensive, so it is a good idea to rent some before trying, which is also a service you can find in a reputable store.
