Level Your Biking Skills Up With an After Sunset Experience

Have your buddies started raving about how cool it is to ride a bike at night in the mountains? And if you’re even a bit of an enthusiast, I’m sure you said yes to this awesome idea and you’re pretty excited about the new, unexpected adventure you’re about to experience. Hooray! However, often-times in moments of excitement we forget that the equipment for these advanced trails is really really important. Usually hardcore bikers love riding at night because the trails are empty, the nights are silent and the adrenaline is going up like crazy! Whether you’re a passionate bike rider or a casual city biker, this kind of experience doesn’t usually show up as often, so if you have the company to share this extremely cool moment with, my suggestion is do it! You will definitely experience the woods and the biking on a whole new level and that’s always a welcomed idea.

Before hitting the mountain trail, you should gear up. Once the sun drops, the weather gets colder which means you’ll need a warm jacket, gloves and shoes. Aside from comfortable and warm clothing, the most important thing is definitely light. You can’t go on a mountain ride in the middle of the night without a pair of special lights that illuminate your road. Regardless of your trail, you actually have to see where you’re going and for that you’ll need lights for mountain biking at night that will be easily attached to the bike and that will light up your way without a problem. Now, when it comes to what kind of light you should use, there will always be a certain degree of dilemma. Normally, people tend to choose LED lights for mountain biking at night because of two main reasons: their lights tend to live way longer and their range is usually way bigger than the other regular lights’ range.

Searching for some “night bike trails tips”, I read somewhere from an experienced biker that riding over supposedly impassable roots, rocks and inclines is an act of defiance to Mother Nature and riding at night is a further rebellion. The result of this “rebellion” is an extreme yet mind-bending sporting event that will give each participant a once in a lifetime experience of up and down “mountaining”. This is why choosing the right trail is of paramount importance. For your first ever mountain night ride you’d want to go with a “beginner’s trail”, which means you should select a trail that doesn’t have too many obstacles such as big rocks, narrow trails, extreme slopes etc. Another important thing to keep in mind are the forest animals. Make a research about the area you want to visit to make sure there won’t be some dangerous forest animal lurking from the trees and the bushes.

Biking after sunset will definitely give you a different perspective on trails, nature and bikes in general. You’ll see that biking never actually gets boring and that there’s always something new to discover. So gear up, hit the night road and be sure to share your mountain biking experience with your (future) children and grandchildren. I’m sure it will be one hell of a bedtime story.
